Can't Connect from Win 8 Laptop to Win 10 PC

Hi . I have to devices at home - a laptop running Win 8 and a PC (with a local printer) that used to run Win 7 but which I recently upgraded to Win 10. I used to be able to connect my laptop to the PC to access the shared printer and files in a shared directory. Since I upgraded the PC to Win 10, I am no longer able to connect to the printer or even see the Win 10 PC on the home network.

I tried leaving the Homegroup from both devices and then recreating the Homegroup on the Win 10 PC again. I was able to connect to the Homegroup from the laptop using the password, but when I click on the Homegroup in Explorer, I get a message that I cannot connect to the Homegroup. I also don't see the PC under the Network.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Adam

    :)

    Homegroups

I have a main pc (now on win 10 from win 8), a laptop (now win 10 from win 8.1) and a laptop (win 7 pro) all on an existing homegroup for the past 2 years. Since the windows 10 upgrades this week the homegroup will not work (allow printers to be shared).

I have finally deleted the homegroup on the main pc and win 10 laptop. Restarted and established a new homegroup on the main pc (and given printers new share names).

On the win 10 laptop it accepts the new homegroup name but not the password - and on various screens show "no homegroup on this pc - ready to create" etc but nothing about joining the existing named homegroup.

I have tried all variation of options (including those in the posts on here) but it just wont allow the laptops to connect using the new homegroup name/password combination on the main pc.

This is really annoying, and obviously a windows 10 bug - which hasn't been acknowledged or rectified

  3. Win 10 Activation after clean install on new hard disk

    Hi,

I bought a laptop with Win 8 installed on it and upgraded to Win 10 and it worked well. Yesterday, the hard drive on the laptop crashed and I lost all the data (including the recovery information or Win 8 installation files) and I installed a new hard drive
and performed the clean install of Win 10 Pro.

Now I can't activate the Win 10 as I am not upgrading from Win 8 and don't have the product key for that version.

How do I activate the win 10 on new HDD (the other hardware MB, Processor, RAM stays the same)

    Kind regards,

    Shoaib

Thanks for the responses. It's already private. I left the Homegroup and then rejoined using the password, but when I look for the other PC, I get the same message that it's not available.

Win 10 a "refresh" or an "upgrade" from Win 7 and Win 8?: I have been under the impression that Win 10 may be like an upgrade so you don't have to re-install all your desktop programs. If it is a "refresh" what a pain *Sad If it is an upgrade will it kill Windows Media Center or might it actually survive to run in Win 10? 5917
