Windows 10: Can't connect/reconnect bluetooth devices

Hey microsoft, so i had a usb dongle that would let my desktop use bluetooth but it broke so i got a new one, but i couldn't connect my headsets to the computer even though it had it up so i tried removing them from both device manager and bluetooth settings and it wouldn't work. I've tried troubleshooting and restarting but nothing seems to work.

Bluetooth devices will not reconnect after paired

After the latest major update to windows 10, my Bluetooth headset and my Bluetooth keyboard, after pairing, will not reconnect after disconnected. These devices have always been able to reconnect for subsequent uses even after original windows 10 install.
After this latest update, they no longer automatically reconnect. They are both listed in the devices list but will not connect. I have to remove and repair every time. Thanks for any help.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Pair the Bluetooth device to the system.
• Right click on the Speaker icon in the System tray and select
  Playback Devices.
• Select the device and click on the drop down list next to Set default button.
• Select the option to connect and disconnect from the device.

problems reconnecting bluetooth devices

whenever i connect a pair of bluetooth headphones to my samsung ativ book 6 with windows 10 x64 they connect great, but when i go to reconnect the same headphones i have to delete them from the know devices list before they will allow me to pair them again.
i have to do this every time with 3 different pair of bluetooth headphones. its a real annoyance. does anyone know of a fix for this?
