Can't connect to internet after zone alarm asked to allow regsvr32

I blocked that file and wifi won't connect. I have Windows 10 on hp pavilion. Login screen for wifi hotspot suddenly is hidden unless I change to lower security and I get an error that ip configuration is wrong. But in device manager it says the device driver is working properly...network adapter is functioning.

    :)

Laura Rooke had suggested disconnecting from the internet, disabling Zone Alarm, and trying to sync, which was successful.

After checking all my Zone Alarm settings, which included making sure all ActiveSync executables were listed in the Zone Alarm Programs section (WCESMgr.exe, wcescomm.exe, astu.exe, rapimgr.exe), I decided to try changing my Internet Zone Security Settings
down to Medium from High. I realized that there had been an upgrade in the last couple of months to Zone Alarm. This change in the Internet Zone Security Settings resolved the issue; I can now sync without resorting to a work around.

I just went through all my Zone alarm settings, and made sure all the ActiveSync related EXEs were added and not blocked, and then I checked my other settings. I had it set to "High" security for the Internet Zone, which hasn't changed since long before
this problem started, but I was thinking that there was an update to Zone Alarm some time after that.

So I changed the setting from High to Medium. It's now working. I'm not thrilled that a firewall has that sort of influence on a non-internet connection, but there it is. It's syncing like it's supposed to now.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

If you blocked something, you are not going to be able to do anything. Drop Zone Alarm and use the built in firewall for Windows. If you are using a Captive Portal, it can even block a connection of a device if it decides that it may be a risk to the network.
