Windows 10: Can't connect to Synology NAS

I don't have the password for our new Sysnology NAS (I suffered from a stroke just as I was re-installing the NAS last June). Is there anyway to get access to the data that was copied into the NAS please?

I'm having the same problem with my Synology Nas and my N8. Can't use Webdav with bigger files.

 

You do not have to install anything to your computer. Follow this information to reset the Network Settings and Administrator Password. DiskStation Manager - Knowledge Base | Synology Inc. They do make an app for iOS and Android that allows you to "Find" the NAS MAC ID if you cannot figure it out from looking at your Router Network Devices info or look at Network devices that show up in Devices and Printers in Windows 10.

I have a DIS216-2+ and it does take a bit to set it up for a Static IP on it and also for external access through the Synology DDNS.

Simple search can find you this information, if you have someone helping you out. Create a Spreadsheet or document with device, username and password for your accounts in case someone needs access to the NAS if you keep your Living Will or Trust on there. I also back my NAS on a 3GB external drive for in case something happens to the hard drives.

 

Holding in the reset button on the back for 4 secs or it beeps usually resets the Syno box to Factory defaults, then you can set it up again with Synology Assistant's help. Your Syno Manual will give you the Default parameters for your Model.

Just make sure not to hold the button after the single beep as the next stage is a DSM reinstall which will wipe out the Operating system too.

If you are really stuck try synology's secret password eg 101-0101 usually works but it works as there is a backdoor PW generated from the date of the day you enter the PW in hex and decimal, don't worry , there is an online generator so you won't need to know Code to figure it out , the page is updated every day so the code is always available here.....
