Can’t connect to WiFi or Bluetooth

For some reason my laptop won’t connect to my WiFi at all. When I view the Network & Internet settings there is only an option to connect via Ethernet. Every other device I have is connected to the WiFi fine but still I restarted the modem and to no avail. I then tried to connect to my phones hotspot and that’s when I noticed that for some reason I also couldn’t turn on Bluetooth on my laptop either. I found this thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/cant-connect-to-bluetooth-and-wifi/6c8ab3df-f184-4b90-800b-ee962ea46a36 and followed its advice to uninstall the

Can't connect to the Internet, local connection only??

Sorry it did not work... yep it is a nice tool and has a small footprint.

I am leaning with the few previous posts and thinking the WiFi card is dead, dying, or, you may want to try reseating the card, if possible.
Also, if the card is a WiFi card with Bluetooth, you might want to see if the Bluetooth is working and try the wifi after disabling the Bluetooth.

The wifi and bluetooth connections are not popping up.

    Hi Gavan,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your WiFi and Bluetooth connections after updating Windows. Let's gather some more information to better understand and resolve the problem.

    Windows Version:

Which version of Windows are you currently using? (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11)

    Update Details:

Can you provide details about the recent Windows update you installed? (e.g., the update number or name)

    Device Manager:

Have you checked the Device Manager for any errors or missing drivers for the WiFi and Bluetooth adapters?

Are there any yellow exclamation marks or errors listed under Network adapters or Bluetooth?

    Network and Internet Settings:

When you go to Settings > Network & Internet, do you see the WiFi option listed at all?

Under Status, do you see any messages or warnings about your network connections?

    Bluetooth Settings:

When you go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, what exactly happens when you try to connect a Bluetooth device? Do you see any error messages?

    Ethernet Connection:

Is your computer currently connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable?

If so, does disconnecting the Ethernet cable change the availability of WiFi options?

    Previous State:

Were your WiFi and Bluetooth connections working fine before the update?

Have you made any other changes to your system around the same time as the update?

    Troubleshooting Steps:

Have you tried restarting your computer after the update?

Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far, such as reinstalling drivers or using the Windows Network Troubleshooter?

    Hardware Switches:

Does your laptop have a physical switch for WiFi or Bluetooth? If so, is it turned on?

    Airplane Mode:

Have you checked if Airplane mode is turned off? Sometimes, updates can accidentally toggle this setting.

Once you provide answers to these questions, we can proceed with more targeted troubleshooting steps.

    Best regards,

    .
