No changes have been made.” I pasted dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth into cmd to resolve this. After running that command in cmd I could not connect to the internet but I assumed this issue would resolve itself after I reset windows. However I was wrong, and now I cannot connect to my WiFi at all and the troubl

    No preferred wireless network

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern and frustration you have been through. I will be glad to assist you.

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have performed to resolve your issue.

    1. Have you tried connecting WLAN?

I suggest you to follow the Methods and check if the issue persists.

Method 1: Remove and re-create the wireless network connection.

To remove and re-create the wireless network connection, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type ncpa.cpl, and then hit Enter.

    2. Right-click your wireless network connection, and then click Properties.

    3. Click the Wireless Networks tab.

    4. Under Preferred networks, click your wireless network, and then click Remove.

    5. Click View Wireless Networks.

    6. Under Network Tasks, click Refresh Network List.

    7. Under Choose a wireless network, click the wireless network to which you want to connect, and then click Connect.

Method 2: Further, you may reset the Winsock settings and check if this helps:

    Run CMD as administrator.

In the command line type: “netsh winsock reset”.

Press Enter then restart your PC to check if this helps.

  3. Wireless Network

Thanks for trying the steps again. It's now clear that the problem is on your router. To reconnect your laptop to the network, we suggest that you set or specify the channel of your wireless network. If you can access your router's user interface, set the
channel to either channel 1, 6, or 11. Once done, remove your WiFi network from your preferred network list, then reconnect.

    Let us know the result.

    Regards.

Cannot connect to preferred wireless networks

    Hello,

OS Windows XP Pro SP3 . Installed TP-Link 150 Mpbs Wireless N Nano USB Network adapter to my Dell Dimension 2100 desktop to connect to my wifi network and cannot connect to my wifi network.

Message I receive from the wifi icon in the lower right hand corner states "cannot connect to preferred wireless networks".

I contacted TP Link support, they could not help me, so is there anything that you can help me with on this matter? Thank you.

    Yours truly,

    David Schneider
