  1. can't copy large files across external usb 3.0 hub

I've had this problem for several years and have never found a solution so hope this is my lucky day.

    Here goes:

I would like to be able to copy multiple large files, say more than several gigabytes, between two usb external drives using an external usb 3.0 hub on a Win 10 machincef. But the copy always stops mid file on a large file. It never fails.

I have several external usb hubs and have access to several Win 10 machines and Win 7 machines. The Win 7 machines copy the files fine regardless of which hub I use and which external drives I use however the copy always fails on the Win 10 machines regardless of the configuration of external usb hub and external drives.

On the Win 10 machines that have two or more usb 3.0 ports, using those ports works fine for copying large files between external usb drives.

Why not just use the usb 3.0 ports, you ask? I'm a photographer and my travelling machine is a Surface Pro 4 which has only one USB port so when I'm on the road, which is most of the time, I can't do my copies. And it doesn't seem to be the Surface Pro 4 that's the problem because my other Win 10 laptop (and Win 10 desktop) exhibit the same problem.

Hope there's an answer out there.

    Thanks,
    Peter

    :)

That screenshot suggests you have 2 USB 3.0/SuperSpeed Hubs.

  3. USB HUB

    Hi,

Incompatible USB hub driver is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We recommend uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and see if it helps. Follow the stepes below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand.
    • Right-click USB Root Hub, then click Properties.
    • Go to the Driver tab.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Restart your computer.
Note: Restarting your computer will automatically reinstall a generic driver for your computer. Also, we suggest connecting your USB hub while performing the steps.

If the issue still persists, let's disable the USB selective suspend settings thru Power Options to resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Type Power Options in the search box, then press Enter.
    • Locate USB settings > USB selective suspend settings.
    • Select Disable.

Keep us in the loop with the result.

Regarding copying of files in external drive from pc

    Hi,

The message that appeared on your screen may have occurred due to the possible missing files if you'll try to copy it that way. We suggest that you follow these steps on how you can copy the file together with it's properties:

    • Right click on the application (Bully) and click Properties.
    • On the application properties window, under the Shortcut tab, click
      Open File Location.
    • The File Location window will open.
    • Select everything. Copy and paste it to the external drive.
    • The copying process may take a while depending on the type of files.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
