  1. Can't Create Folders and Can't store anything locally without onedrive

I recently purchased a new Dell laptop and I'm regretting it. Everything looks weird and I spend more time trying to work around it's limitations than actually completing my tasks.... we're talking hours.

How can I create a new folder?

How can I save things locally?

In word, there is no save as function so I am unable to change the name of a file. Also, it doesn't offer the ability to create a new folder locally or on stupid onedrive.

Does anyone know the answer to these questions? I'm sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking, but it's really irritating how I'm limited in the way I like to organize my folders.

    :)

    Move the OneDrive Folder

Move the OneDrive Folder in Windows 10

When you set up OneDrive to sync with your computer, a folder C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive will be created to store the contents. XXXX denotes your username. To move this folder to another location follow these simple steps:

    1. Unlink OneDrive from your PC:

    • Go to the taskbar notification area
    • Right-click on the OneDrive icon
    • Select settings
    • Click: Unlink this PC
    2. Delete the C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive folder

    3. Create a new folder (target folder) for OneDrive contents, e.g. D:\OneDrive

    4. Create Directory Junction for the new folder

    • In the search area of the taskbar type CMD and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
    • In the command window type
    mklink /J C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive D:\OneDrive

adjusting it to your specific username and selection of the target folder

    5. Link again OneDrive to your PC using the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area

Synching OneDrive to new PC created confusing local disk storage

    Marco

unfortunately not. I tried them all except hiding in Registry as I do not have 2 copies of "OneDrive" directory.

In OneDrive Cloud, I have a number of master directory and data stored in sub directories. on old laptop, this directory hierarchy and storage of files was all copied to single OneDrive folder on the local disk.

on connecting and synching OneDrive on new laptop, my data directories and subdirectories are now stored in directory called "Documents" in local OneDrive directory. this is mirrored in "Documents" directory in my user parent directory in windows explorer.
changes made in either instance are mirrored in other instance.

    I cannot add screenshots but to try to explain;

    1. OneDrive creates and maintains \Pictures\CameraRoll directory. this is only synchronised with local OneDrive Directory
    2. I have data directory "CloudStored" which is visible in OneDrive online in same window as "Pictures" directory
    3. on laptop synchronisation, directory "Documents" created in OneDrive directory and "CloudStored" placed in the Documents directory
    4. Sybnchronised copy of "Documents" directory placed in windows user to directory (in now have 2 directories "Documents as Microsoft creates one by default)

I hope you can visualise this?

    regards
