Windows 10: Can't customize folder icons in Windows 11

I am trying to change the icon of a folder on my computer and it doesn't work.I go to properties/customize/change icon and I choose an .ico file I have in a folder. When I click on "apply" the icon changes, but then it reverts back to the default.I also tried with an icon in the .dll files in system32, same result.I also tried to choose a picture to show on the folder icon: same issue, the picture doesn't appear.

Changing and locking a custom icon to a folder?

I want to change a few folders icons and fix the icon to the folder so if its moved to other computers the icon wont change is there any way of doing this thanks,

Not only that but when I customize folders and sub folders to pictures it may or may not comply. Windows 10 had the same problem with windows ten reverting back to General Items often. If I wanted a list of 50 to 5000 items I would not mind but I don't want a list I want icons. You should have stuck with windows 7 and let us control our own computers.

 

How to make vista display same icon size for all opened folders in explorer ?

i dont think this answers the question , how do i make all icons in all folders appear "Large Icons" .
