Can't delete partitions for clean install of Windows 10

    Hi,

Sorry if this is a duplicate thread. I looked around but couldn't find a thread with the same problem or a solution.
Anyways, I have been trying to do a clean install of Windows 10 on my Acer Switch 10 2-in-1 because my Windows 8.1 fails to boot and it doesn't let me recover it so I can upgrade. When I get to the partitioning screen it doesn't let me delete the partitions. I used two other tools, Gparted and Partition Wizard, but Gparted can't delete the partitions either, and Partition Wizard fails to boot. So I don't know what to do. Please help *Sad

    :)

I did a clean install (deleted all C: partitions) of windows 10

Why would you delete the partitions, that has nothing to do with anything for a printer. I am shocked you got a clean install if you deleted the EFI partition, unless you did an install that was BIOS.

Can't delete partitions for clean install of Windows 10

NOTE: If you have not upgraded to Windows 10 previously then you need to install Windows 8.1 first in order to upgrade to free Windows 10.

Make sure you only have one disk that you intend to install Windows connected. You can try:
    • Boot up with Windows installation media (USB/DVD)
    • On the first screen. Press SHIFT + F10 and type
      diskpart
      select disk 0
      clean
      exit
      exit
    • Continue with Installation, select custom, select the unallocated partition then click Next (Do not create partition/format. Let Windows create the needed partitions.
    • When prompted for product key. Click on "I don't have the product key" or "Skip this step"

Maybe a silly question, but have you tried returning your system to factory defaults this way? :

Recovering from the hard drive during startup
    1.Turn on your computer and press <Alt> + <F10> during startup. A
screen appears asking you to choose the keyboard layout.
2.Several options are now presented. Click Troubleshoot.
3.Click either Refresh your PC or Reset your PC.

In MiniTool Partition Wizard, Right click on the icon for the disk itself (not any of the partitions) and select Delete All Partitions. If that doesn't work, than your hard drive is probably defective and needs to be replaced.

Yes I did that, but it still shows the partitions. Thanks for the help. I'll see if I can get the hard drive replaced.

Surely it is not a real Hard disk, but solid state memory - 32GB, with 2GB RAM, presumably directly on the Motherboard, since there is no mention of upgradeability for this tablet convertible. Its partitions may not be modified by usual means, perhaps?

Good point, you might be correct. My Nextbook Windows tablet with 32gb eMMC, though, is 100% just like an SSD or HDD, I can delete everything down to unallocated space.
