    Can't disable "Clear Page file at shutdown"


    Hi - I have tried to disable clearing of page file at shutdown through local security policy and the registry editor but for some reason, they keep reverting to old values automatically even without a reboot. What could possibly be going on ? Shutdown/reboot has been taking as long as 30-40 minutes because of this and it's driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated, thanks


    Btw, I am Windows 10 Pro version 1703.

    Clear Pagefile on Shutdown


    I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:
    1. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
    2. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.
    3. Restart Windows.
    I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?

    Set minimum and maximum to a constant number as suggested by others, that will help reduce fragmentation on the drive coz of different page file sizing.

    disabling page file?

    NO, don't remove the paging file even though you have lots of ram to waste on page file is still needed for windows to work properly. Well if you have a 2nd HDD try putting the page file there as far as I know moving the page file in different HDD with no system files on improves performance.
