Windows 10: Can't disable the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" on...

My computers are in a very secure location that only I have access to. I want to disable the requirement for users to enter a user name and password.

When I run netplwiz on my main PC I've always disabled the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" checkbox and it works as intended.

I just setup a new PC that also runs Windows 10 Pro that doesn't need a user name and password to login. The problem is that there's no checkbox to uncheck.

One thing I've noticed is on the main PC I see Administrator and my user name in the "Users for this computer" section. On the second PC it only shows my name.

What am I overlooking or doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Thank for providing us the information. We've already tried multiple troubleshooting steps and the same issue still persists. In this case, let's try to troubleshoot your issue by eliminating ghost login, follow the steps below:

• First, open netplwiz, then uncheck the box for Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
• Then, on the pop-up window, click Cancel.
• Make sure the box for Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer should be checked again.
• Lastly, click OK.

These will help us to eliminate ghost login.

how to delete user password?

To assist you better, I would like to know whether the accounts are local account or Microsoft account. Are you trying to remove the login password?

If you are trying to remove the login password, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press windows key + R to open command prompt, and type "netplwiz"
• Uncheck "user must enter user name and password to use this computer", then click "ok"
• Enter your user name and password, then click "ok"
• Restart your computer.

I would like to inform you that it is recommended to activate the password for security reasons.

'incorrect user name and password'


The netplwiz option is the same as I posted in post #2 below. If you check the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box, do you still get this "incorrect user name and password" message?
