Windows 10: Can't download compatible drivers for webcam after updating to windows10 from 7

I have a Sony Vaio VPCCB22FD that was purchased with Windows 7 back in the day of the dinosaurs. I updated to windows 10 and now the webcam won't work. I've tried running things in compatibility mode but none of them jive. From what I tell the camera driver isn't even there, and searching the computer/model for updated drivers only has a windows 8 option. Any help would be amazing!

Updating Webcam Drivers

I have an ASUS GL551JW with a built-in webcam. I am having sync issues between the audio and video when I use Camtasia 8.6. The software manufacture told me to check my webcam drivers.

I checked the drivers and they are from 2006. They are Microsoft drivers. I contacted ASUS and they couldn't provide me any information on updated drivers, but they were able to give me the following details about my webcam:

I have been searching online but I'm not finding anything that is helpful for obtaining updated drivers. Maybe there aren't any updated drivers, but I am hoping that they've been updated since 2006.

I have already downloaded the Intel chipset drivers from ASUS. I am not sure if that would include the webcam drivers. That's what ASUS told me to download.

Device Manager lists the webcam as: USB2.0 UVC HD Webcam. I am using Windows 10.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or can someone help me find some updated drivers for this webcam?

P.S. I am planning on buying a "real" webcam in the next couple months, but until then, I need to try to get this one working. Everything works fine on this webcam, and the video is good, it's just out of sync with any recorded audio.

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

This issue can be caused if the webcam drivers are corrupted or missing. I would suggest you to visit the computer manufacturer website and install the latest webcam drivers.

If that issue persist try to install in Compatibility mode.

Method 2:
Compatibility mode

I would suggest you to install the latest available drivers on manufacturer's website in compatibility mode.

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

And, also install all the drivers from the manufacturer web site.
