  1. Can’t edit “Require sign-in” time?

The require sign in time setting within sign in options never stays put. I can change it to whatever I want, but after I close the settings and come back, it always changes back to never. It’s as if it isn’t saving my changes or something. Any suggestions?

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Can’t edit “Require sign-in” time? :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  3. password sign in

    Hi,

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Go to Settings.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Click on Sign in options.
    • On the right side, you will see required sign in.
    • Change it to Never.

Let us know how it goes.

    Can’t edit “Require sign-in” time?

    Double sign-in required

    Hi SHF26,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    • Are you using Microsoft account or a local account?

I appreciate the time you have taken to resolve this issue. The reason might be due to user account corruption, so I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it works.

    Step1: Tap on Ctrl+Alt+Del
key at the same time on the keyboard.
Now, select Sign out and sign in back.

    Step 2:

    1. Press Windows andR
      key together on your Keyboard.
    2. Type Netplwiz and hit enter.
    3. Click on uncheck the option Need to enter user name and password.
    4. Sign out from the PC and sign in back.
    5. Go back to the same page and check
Need to enter user name and password.

If the above methods doesn’t work, I would suggest you to ‘Create
a local user or administrator account’

and check if the issue persists.

Note: You will not see all your files under your default file location.
So your data will be saved under c:\users\user_name.

Let us know if you need further assistance regarding this issue.

    Hope it helps.
