Windows 10: Can't express how much I hate Windows update

Sorry, gotta vent.

So for a while now my laptop tries to update, gets to a blue screen "getting Windows ready" or some crap. Then, something along the lines of "can't update, rolling back".

This process takes aeons and seems to happen even though I've looked up how to prevent updates, and changed my connection to metered etc. Deployed registry tweaks and all sorts.

Then last week, did the same thing but got stuck in a boot loop. I had to create a usb boot disc on my old PC that I haven't switched on for a couple years - this process itself took 4 fucking hours as the old PC took ages to grind through the gears and even reach a usable state - I swear to God I very nearly launched the monitor out the window.

Getting the laptop working without reinstalling wasn't plain sailing. I had to deploy the command line and fuck about for another three hours for reasons I don't even want to go into.

After getting it up and running for a few days, I just entered the room and see the dreaded Windows is updating screen despite my best efforts to deter it.

It's just hit the "Windows update can't complete, do not turn off your computer" and rebooted to the notorious "undoing changes" screen. A screen I've stared blankly at for hours over the last year.

I couldn't give a crap about exploits or usability improvements I just want Microsoft to leave me the fuck alone. Can anybody help? As far as I know I've deployed every tweak to try and prevent the updates but still they happen.

UPDATE: it's in another boot loop. Another couple hours of fucking about with the command line beckons.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
