Windows 10: Can't extend my C Drive nor add a new partition

My C: Drive has 237 Gb and I was hoping to add a new drive from Disk Management. But when I went there, there was no unallocated space to add a new drive. Only this see image was present:


I tried shrinking the C drive and expanding the other partition and joining them, but the storage limit was 5.something GB, the exact amount removed from the C: Drive. I also tried using AOMEI Partition assistant and expanding the drive, but the max storage was 237 GB itself.



Please help me, I'm running out of space.

How to extend C partition

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

1. Right-click on the partition (in your case, Data) and select
Delete Volume.

2. When the prompt appears click Yes.

3. The partition will now display as Unallocated.

4. Now, right-click on C: Drive and select Extend Volume.

5. Click on Next. If you wish to extend all the unallocated partition to C: drive, then click
Next otherwise next to select the amount of space in MB
text box type in the space (in MB) to merge with C: drive.

6. Click on Finish.

Note: In disk management, D: drive must be next to the C: drive on the right-side only then you can extend C: drive.

Windows 7 Drive C extend partition

Hi,

I have a problem extending my drive c partition, here's the scenario:

Basically, I have 2 partition, the drive C and drive D. Since I am no longer using the drive D i want to delete the partition and add it to drive C.

Heres what I've done,

I navigate to disk partition manager and delete the Drive D partition after that i right click the Drive C partition to extend its storage but the extend button is disabled.

Next, I use my bootable windows 7 installer and choose the advance method installation, there, i was able to extend the partition, but, i want to know if extending the Drive partition will remove my drive c data ? I dont want that to happen. . I want just
to extend its storage thats it. So that i can be only using Drive C.

Extend C drive Size

Your Image does not show a D partition. It does show an F partition which if reduced in size would enable you to increase the size of the C partition.



These are the steps needed to enable you to increase the size of your C partition:

• 
  Reduce F by 20 gb placing the unallocated space before F.
  
• 
  Increase the Recovery partition by 20 gb taking up unallocated space created by Step 1.
  
• 
  Reduce the Recovery partition by 20 gb placing the unallocated space before the Recovery partition.
  
• 
  Increase the C partition by 20 gb to take in the unallocated space before the Recovery partition.
  

You can use Easeus Partition Manager (freeware) to carry out these tasks. The files in each partition are automatically moved when you carry out each step detailed above.
