Windows 10: Can't fix broken Windows Spotlight (Windows 10) not working - HELP

I've tried all the guides on google, like recommended here https://www.windowscentral.com/how-fix-windows-spotlight-stuck-same-image-windows-10 and https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/windows-10-spotlight-not-working-fixed/


Neither fixes windows spotlight for me! I'm on a Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows Spotlight broken, not downloading images

Yes, that was part of the 'fix' and Brink's tutorial does that (and more).

On it's own, I've never found it to be sufficient to fix a badly broken Spotlight. Back in 1607 I seriously broke Spotlight by some injudicious manual changes (I was trying to 'un-like' an image that had got stuck there until I got sick of seeing it). An in-place repair install was the only fix for that *Sad

Hi, I found it's relatively easy to break this if you fiddle with its basic operation, hard or not possible to fix. The final thing I was missing - the preview screen- didn't return until I upgraded to the CU.

It can take some unobvious actions to try to repair it. (I make no recommendation).
