Windows 10: Can't get back albums in microsoft photos application

After the most recent google photos update I opened up the application to see that all of my albums were gone. After going around looking around a bit I found the "add my albums from photos legacy" option. I was hoping this option would be my savior but I was severely disappointed. I have a lot of albums a few hundred or so and every time I try to transfer the albums from the old version to this new version it will get up to 9 albums stop for a while and then crash. I'm not exactly sure if this is a problem with the application or my **** laptop or if the quantity of albums is just too much. I

photo app - How can I do a slideshow in an album? I only see the slideshow option outside of albums.

  Are you referring to the slide show option in the photo app?
  

I suggest you to follow the below steps for the slideshow option and check if it helps.

• 
  Open the “Photo App”
  
• 
  Go to any three options “Collection”, “Albums” and “Folders”.
  
• 
  Click on any “Photo” and press the key “F5” it will launch slide show.

Microsoft Photos - Albums Lose their File Association - Becoming Empty Albums

Hello,

Thought I would if others are also experiencing this behavior when using the Microsoft Photo app when working with the Album feature.

The problem I'm facing is that after creating an album and coming back the next day the files within the album are no longer linked to the album. Its just an empty album.

So no sense using the feature if the albums only remain valid for a day or so. Was curious if other have experienced this and if they may have found a solution.

Some notes about how this environment is setup:

• The photos are on a shared network resource.
  • NTFS and Share permissions are working
  • No changes made to NTFS or Share permissions which might cause the app to lose its association to the files as it relates to the apps assigned resources.
• The remote client is a Surfacebook
  • Windows 10 Pro (10.0.14393)
  • Microsoft Photo 16.1118.10000.0
• The remote client is mapping the shares as logical disks.
  • As mentioned no changes take place here which might cause the app to become confused.
  • I have configured the app to access the resources within this mapped drives. This works for all other aspects of the application; i.e photos and video files are accessible as expected.

Gut feeling is that the application isn't handling the loss of access to the resource well; in the event it becomes inaccessible. The defined albums just become unassociated empty containers and don't know how to handle rescan the configuration parameter
which links the files to the Album when the resource link is valid.

Couple other items I've noticed are

• No matter how many times you go into the application and remove some unwanted sources, they just seem to come back later. This always happens with
  • C:\Users\Username\Pictures
  • C:\Users\Username\OneDrive\Pictures
