  1. Can't get Built In Microphones to work as Input when 3.5mm Earbuds Are Used as Output

I have a laptop with 2 built in microphone array mics for voice input. Usually they work fine with my devices. However I also have a 3.5mm dual jack that I use with standard wired earbuds. When I plug in the 3.5mm earbuds, my laptop doesn't seem to recognize it as a separate device. The output is still Speakers Realtek Audio, the same as when the output is my laptop speakers. This is an issue because it also uses the built in mic on the wired earbuds for voice input. I can't seem to differentiate between the built in microphone array and built in mic on the earbuds. When I go to sound control panel and click Microphone Array properties, it shows both InsideMobileLid Digital Jack, and Right Panel 3.5mm Jack under the Jack Information.

So, how can I use my built in microphone array mics as the input when these earbuds are connected for the Output? It seems the 3.5mm jack is being detected as my regular Speakers and Microphone Array when connected. Is this because the 3.5mm jack is a dual input and output jack? The mic on the wired earbuds is really crappy compared to the built in laptop ones, leading to the issue. Thanks for any feedback!

  2. Using the Built-In Mic Instead of Earbud Mic

    Hi all,

I've had this problem for a while now where no matter what kind of earbuds I'm wearing, the default recording device is always the built-in microphone on my laptop.

I've opened up recording settings and I don't see a specific device listed as the in-line mic built into my earbuds, but when I use these earbuds on my phone I am able to use the microphone seamlessly.

For further information, the default recording device on my computer is listed as Realtek High Definition Audio, and I've done several tests to confirm that it is indeed the mic that is built into my Asus laptop.

    Much thanks and cheers.

  3. Microphone records input and output

I am using a DAW to record microphone inputs on various tracks.

When I hit record, the microphone picks up the DAW's metronome (output) as well as the sound I intended to record. When I play back the track, the metronome has indeed been recorded, along with all the other sounds picked up by the microphone.

When I start another track the input records both the microphone and the playback audio, including all previously recorded tracks and the metronome.

Listen to device has been deselected. There is no environmental effects tab for the microphone. All other inputs and outputs have been disabled. I have customized and reset to defaults from both the Windows settings/sounds panels and the DAW. The inputs
work, and the outputs work, I just want the input to ONLY record the microphone, not all other playback/output signals.

Can't get Built In Microphones to work as Input when 3.5mm Earbuds Are Used as Output

    No Microphone Input

So I just got my computer (built myself if that matters), and I can't get any microphones to work. I've tried the front and back microphone ports with multiple pairs of earbuds, as well as a USB headset. None of them work, but a little bit of static is
input and recorded whenever I plug them in or rotate them in their ports. Whenever I speak into the microphones, however, nothing is recorded.
