Windows 10: Can’t get computer to start normally with msconfig

My computer has been acting up for a few days now after I installed a new battery bought on Amazon it seems identical to the original one.Issues first started when I tried to calibrate the battery, lots of crashes and errors while the computer was unplugged. It’s not a certainty that the battery is the culprit, it could be a virus as well, only god knows.As in the other thread I posted, I also noticed that a very shady mini-player would pop up unsolicited after watching a video on YouTube or even after using the Music app the music starts to break up and the mini-player pops-up flickering,

I understand you are not able to boot to in normal mode. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Did you follow the below steps to enable the Normal startup?

• Press Windows + R keys from the Keyboard.
• Type msconfig and hit Enter.
• Click on the General tab.
• Select the Normal startup option.
• Click on Apply and Ok.
• Restart the system and check.

If yes, you may follow the below steps to check if the computer boots to selective startup:

• Press Windows + R keys from the Keyboard.
• Type msconfig and hit Enter.
• Select the General tab.
• Select the Selective startup option, check the box for load startup services, load startup items, use original boot configuration will be enabled.
• Restart the computer.

If it boots successfully to selective startup then you can boot to normal startup from selective startup.

Please check the above scenario and get back with the results.

how to troubleshoot msconfig not allowing normal start up

Two items were reinstalled and the msconfig displayed normal start up.

When the third item was reinstalled it changed from normal start up to selective start up.

Two nearby computers were checked that have the same item. These two computers have msconfig normal start up.

These three computers all have version 2.0.1401 of the above software.

So it currently appears that there is some incompatibility problem just with this one computer.

How do you troubleshoot that?

Yesterday the Microsoftanswers web site was malfunctioning. Today it is working.

For the inability to start in normal boot on the clean install I was looking for a more efficient way to determine which if any item installed (software or hardware could be interfering with the normal boot.

The sfc scannow and dism restorehealth did not find any problems

The UEFI disgnostics reported that the loop until failure tests all passed.

There were only 39 items listed in control panel as per the earlier post.

All of the drivers/appplications listed for this computer make/model were reinstalled from the HP web site.

There was nothing standing out in the msinfo32 or eventvwr that I could interpret as related to the inability to make a normal start up.

The plan was to uninstall items one by one and check each boot unless I could find a better method.

Today I started the first item uninstall and it displayed that I had to reboot for uninstall or press no. I ended up doing 4 items, and then rebooted. Upon reboot after uninstalling 4 items the msconfig start up displayed normal start up.





This is the msconfig now with 35 items. Now one of the prior 4 item was producing the selective start up.





Now I plan to reinstall the items one by one if I can find them and see if it can be determined which one was interfering with the normal start up.
