Can't get "Hide My IP" VPN to work in Windows 10 - IP remains local.

I've got a pretty specific problem. I travel some, and some of the applications I use need to believe I am in the USA even when I'm not. On Windows 7, "Hide My IP" did the job perfectly. However, under Windows 10, nothing that I do seems to stop my local (Taiwan) IP from being recognized.

I've downloaded the latest version of "Hide My IP",but it didn't help. Is there a Windows 10 setting that I am overlooking, or don't know about, that will allow "Hide My IP" to "tunnel"?

I've had to revert to Windows 7 (temporarily) on one of my machines because of this, so I'd really like to know about a solution, setting, workaround or alternate app.

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide!

    :)

    wm 6.5 Wifi network problems

    Hi,

I have a htc hd2 where I am trying to connect to my local network via wifi (DHCP). The connection succeeds and I can see the device registered on my router.

I can connect to my local pages (such as utorrent web interface etc) ONLY if I use the IP adress of the machine it runs on - using hostname fails.

Also, I cannot connect to a network share at all via the default file browser (either via IP or Hostname)

I also have LogMeIn's Hamachi installed (VPN) on the device, and when this is enabled I can connect to my local pages by hostname and IP (?!), but I also can't connect to network shares.

Just to complicate things further, I have an older WM6 device and I can connect just fine (using identical wifi settings) to my networkshares (via IP or Hostname), but only with IP to Local Pages.

Any ideas? I am getting desperate as I have a number of applications which I want to run both locally and over VPN, and since the IP changes I can't use it, and since they don't both support by hostname I can't use that either!!

Connecting while on activeSync makes IP work and hostname no (for local pages) and again, network shares are a no-go (so it must be the phone's settings?)

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Elco

  3. All Videos cast to device (Bravia KD-49X8500B) not working

Turn off any VPN or ip hiding software. It creates a sepeeat connection for your network that the tv can't recognize.

  4. Can't get "Hide My IP" VPN to work in Windows 10 - IP remains local.

Assuming it's some kind of firewall issue, try temporarily disabling Windows firewall (I'm assuming you're not running some other internet security software) and retest your connection. If it works, probably have to add the vpn software to your list of allowed programs

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already checked and the program has full permission in the Windows firewall. Very strange.

I use VPN/proxy service hide-my-ip.com for a long time, and it's a great service. I can bypass Netflix restrictions with it, access to blocked websites and so on. Really useful stuff...

I can't help with your specific issue using Hide My IP, but I can tell you that I connect to my home router using OpenVPN and it works exactly like it should. Internet traffic gets tunneled through my home router and the external IP address seen is my router's IP address.
