Cant get into BIOS after Creators Fall Update...

so ive been having problems with software since upgrading to Creators Fall Update...was a big mistake updating and advise others to avoid it as many other people are coming forward with problems on MS forums.

It has blacked out my Boot up screen? I can not use F12 to get into the boot menu as before...oressing F12 makes the system hang and not boot up - i have to reset and not press anything to get into window...#

Iam trying to get into the EaseUS Recovery Boot which used to display for 3 seconds before windows loaded? so I can restore my windows back to 1607 ...but now its gone, as is the BIOS screen and LOADING????

    HELP

    thanks

    :)

  2. Update Windows 10 failed. HP Pavilion Notebook BIOS app needs to be manually removed for the update.

You need to download the latest BIOS update from the HP site. I did this for my mom's laptop and I was able to update to Creators (version 1703-- haven't done the Fall Creators yet) after doing this. It's the F.45
Rev.A, 17 May 2017 BIOS update, if I remember correctly.

Can't view SSL certificates on websites visited using EDGE in Windows 10

Further to all of the above, it seems that after 1709 (Fall Creators update) you cant check certificates in IE either? Come on guys.

  4. Cant get into BIOS after Creators Fall Update...

The fall creators update or Windows 10 does not change any BIOS settings. Turn off fast startup to see issue resolves.

Fast startup is a feature in Windows that helps your computer start faster. You can use the following steps to enable or disable fast startup.

    • Type Control Panel in the search box.
    • Click Control Panel.
    • Click Power Options.
    • Click Choose what the power buttons do.
    • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    • Scroll down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
    • Click Save changes.

  7. Please boot your computer with Windows Setup Media and from Windows Recovery Environment start the Command Prompt.

Please type below command into Command Prompt and press Enter key.

Following command will fixes errors on the disk and locates bad sectors and recovers readable information.

    Code: Chkdsk D: /r[/quote]

Please replace partition letter D: with Windows installed partition letter. When computer boots into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) environment the drive letter assign to Windows partition may not be C: drive letter because Windows 7, 8 , 8.1 and 10 creates a separate system partition when it's installed from scratch. The system partition contains boot files WinRE assigns the system partition the C: drive letter and the Windows installed partition will be assign any other drive letter usually D: drive letter is assign to Windows installed partition. The Bcdedit /enum | find "osdevice" command can be use to find out the drive letter of the Windows installed partition the output of the Bcdedit command is similar to this osdevice partition=D:. The drive letter after partition= is the drive letter of the Windows partition.

Cant get into BIOS after Creators Fall Update...

I cant boot into any media from boot, this is exactly what iam trying to do...

ive ran checkdisk within windows and no errors on my SSD, SMART data is same as before...no errors or damaged sectors...

if I press ANY button on my keyboard at POST it just hangs the computer and will not boot or do anything, causing me to reset it... ive tried pressing DEL (BIOS) no joy... ive tried F12 (boot from device) and no joy...just black screen and hung system.. Ive tried using Advanced Startup and no joy (as before but without me having to press anything, black screen, no activity...have to reset back into windows) - the same happened when I tried "go back to previous version"

I have EasyBCD installed and have used that in the past on windows 10 to change the boot wait time for EaseUS recovery option and it worked... Im wondering if I re-write it with 'use metro bootloader' enabled it will give me the regular boot screen with option to boot into EaseUS

    thanks for your help

  10. Legacy BIOS or UEFI?
If UEFI try this, Boot to UEFI Firmware Settings from inside Windows 10
If legacy, and you have turned off Windows fast startup. Shutdown from Windows and then unplug your power supply from the wall outlet
Now press and hold the PC power button for about 5 seconds. Until the power led fades to black.
Then plug your power supply back in, push your power button, and spam the keyboard key for BIOS access.

If you are in UEFI mode, Type cmd in the search, right click it and select run as Administrator. In the window that opens, copy/paste this shutdown /r /fw /t 0

thanks everyone... managed to sort it by starting the restoration within windows... i didnt want to do it that way in case it faltered as its free software that I hadnt used before...but its restored it fine and its alligned (SSD) properly too

while it worked it did do most the restoration under a black screen, it was only the HDD activity light that kept me informed... after 20 minutes the screen appeared with the rest

    thanks again
