Windows 10: Can't Get Microsoft to Forget My Old Email Address

Hi.Recently I switched internet providers, with the result that my old email address, which was an @dslextreme , is no longer valid. After a lot of trying, I've successfully changed my Microsoft sign-in email to the new one which is an @gmail. The problem is that Microsoft can't seem to hold a password longer than a few days. Every time I try to log in, it rejects the correct password and sends a verification code. And--here is the crux--it still sends that verification code to me at @dslextreme. That address was supposed to vanish two days ago and eventually will vanish. I got into this forum

Here is the step to remove that old email address.

Start typing an email address into the “To” field. As soon as you see the old email address being recommended as one of the potential candidates, use the down arrow key to scroll through the list of suggestions. Once you highlight the old email address, type the delete key. In many cases, this will actually remove the entry not only from the current list of suggestions but from future suggestions as well. You may even find that as you mouse over the drop-down list the highlighted item will have an “x” to explicitly allow you to delete it.

Just do this step and your good to go.

Windows 10 Store Application -- old email address

Hi there,

I have already tried a lot of suggestions on this to no avail -- please help.

When I am trying to download a game from the store app a pop up asking me to verify my password for an old email address keeps coming up. This email address is not listed in my user account -- it was deleted three months ago. I have tried entering the
password for the old email address but it won't accept it and another message comes up saying there is a problem at their end and to try again later.
