Can't get Panasonic Viera TV to recognize home wifi?

I am having a big problem trying to get my Panasonic tv onto my PC's computer's wifi network so that I can use the tv's vieracast. Here are some threads from a post on another forum. I am terrible when it comes to networking and I hope these threads make sense:

I have a Panasonic TC-P50V10, a Windows 10 PC, a Comcast Arris TG1682G. Before the recent Arris was installed, I was able to use the Panny's VieraCast, but after install I can't make the wireless connection. Before the new modem install, I had a "regular" Arris modem and a Linksys router which allowed the Vieracast to work. I am now having a devil of a time getting things back into order. When going to the Panny's Network settings and then running the automatic connection test, I get the following error message: Home network is available. IP not acquired. For vieracast use, check router's connections and settings (eg, DHCP).

What I have from comcast is a combined modem/router that was changed for comcast's first modem and my router about 1-2 years ago. Before the change, vieracast was working, but I haven't looked at vieracast again until yesterday at which time I discovered that I could no longer get vieracast because of the above mentioned problem. Yesterday I also noted that the present comcast modem's ethernet cable was not hooked into the computer. I hooked it in before I started trying to establish a network connection between the TV and the modem. BTW, the modem's wifi is working as evidenced by my wife's iPad and iPhone being able to go wifi at home. Also, when trying to add a device (the tv) to devices in Windows 10, the tv is not detected??? whereas all my other peripherals are??? The tv's operating manual can be found here: Panasonic Product Support - TC-P50V10

Using a TV as a monitor, the edges of the screen are cut off. How can I make it fit properly?

I use my TV(Panasonic Viera) as a monitor, with the resolution being 1920 x 1080. When I upgraded to Windows 10, the edges of the screen became cut off. Prior to upgrading, the display settings box would list the monitor as "Panasonic Viera", but now it
says "Generic PnP". Is there an adjustment I can make to get it to fit?

Can't get Panasonic Viera TV to recognize home wifi?

Does it connect wirelessly or with a wired connection? (no link) The TV should have settings for connecting to the new network.
When the modem was changed 1-2 years ago, was a new SSID (wireless network name) and password established?

The tv is to be connect wirelessly to the modem as it is too far for a direct connection. The SSID and pw may have changed, but I don't know. As I had said, I'm not too good when it comes to network/wireless stuff, but can follow directions well. So, where do I find the SSID and pw? Thanks.

EDIT: Still not sure if the SSID and pw were changed, but I now do know what they now are.

Okay - I am pretty sure the wireless SSID and password get changed when the units are replaced (unless you specifically change them back to what you had before). Try getting into the network settings of the TV and connect to your new network. *Smile

That's what I've been trying to do, but the TV keeps telling me that it can't get the IP and that I have to check the connections and settings (as posted in mt first post.)

Can you tell me what you see in your settings on the TV for this?

EDIT: I do NOT need your MAC address - don't post that info.

Yes, that is from my manual.
    1. When running the "connection test" on Auto IP mode and Auto DNS mode settings, I get
    a. IP address: 169.254.7.128, Mask: 255.255.0.0
    b. Nothing for DNS primary and seconday
    2. With the LAN setting on Auto, nothing shows in LAN sped field
    a. With LAN setting on Manual, I can set it on anyone of the three BASE configurations, but have left it on Auto
    3. I still keep getting the same error message described in above post and also "Connection to server failed (001)"
Furthermore, I just noticed that after the test, the field after "Connection test" now says "Only home network."
Lastly, a reminder that the Arris modem is a combination modem/router.

EDIT: Do have a new SSID, but I think the PW is the same. But, I don't see how these come into play as the TV doesn't seem to ask for this info?

The subnet mask needs to be 255.255.255.0

Do you know the IP address of your router/modem? In other words, if you wanted to log into your router/modem to have a look at the settings, you would type an IP address in your browser - what is that? (Like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)

If you don't know, please open an admin command prompt or admin powershell on your computer and type
Code: ipconfig /all[/quote] Look for your computer's network adapter and see what the IP address is.

No problem. Thanks, we try the best we can here. *Smile

    I see your pm.

Please go into the settings for your TV, and do some manual settings. Not sure what all you can do...
    IP setting mode--manual
    IP address--10.0.0.20
    Subnet Mask--255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway--10.0.0.1
    DNS setting mode--automatic

    Try the connection test.
Note that the IP address is usually dynamic and assigned by your modem/router, so you may be able to get it connected without entering that one. But you've got to tell the TV that your default gateway (your router/modem) is at 10.0.0.1 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. It's quite possible that the modem/router will assign an IP address to the TV once you tell the TV where to go to ask for it. Does that make sense?

Ugh, didn't work. Was able to manually put in the info into IP and Gateway; however when IP mode is in manual and after I enter the info, DNS mode can't be put into automatic...it stays manual. And, when I then run the connection test, if fails and nothing is entered into the DNS mode.
