Windows 10: Can't get past Change User Account Screen

I power up and the log in screen shows, "Change user Name", under that the User Name box and Password box. Then shows the name I have my laptop, "DANNYLAP". Under this is How to log in using a different account... (not sure if my wording is correct. If you click on it I get information on changing if just the user and same domain or how to if a different domain. Ok, the problem is I've tried both and nothing. Example: DANNTLAP\panxxxxxxxx@live.com then pass my password and hit ENTER and nothing happens other then the cursor jumping back to user name box. I do notice one I keyed in the "@" sign my Computer name goes away and I start seeing letter by letter that I'm keying in, the @live.com only replaces where DANNYLAP was.

When I try the other way of just keying in DANNTYAB and my password, hit enter cursor jumps back up to User box and nothing happens.

What I did prior to all of this was trying to follow instructions on how to get rid of the malware or virus that my browser ended up with opening new tabs and going to other web sites other then what I keyed in. There were 5 recommendations to do which did find several bad guys, quarantined and deleted them. After 1 I was to reboot and it seemed just what was expected until now I can't get past the sign in screen. When it first booted up my user name showed like normal, the little keypad showed like normal but after keying in my 4 number code I got nothing. I even changed to keying in my password way and still nothing. That is when I read the how to change and now all I get is the Change User Name screen with blank boxes which all looks as if it will work.

Why after hitting enter either way, nothing happens? Normally I would just reset The computer and move forward. The setup disk I created after updating to Windows 10 is somewhere buried in my storage unit. I was having problems on my windows phone running Windows 10 and reset it and also had to reset my tablet running on Windows 8.1 both are back up and running. I like how both have the reset set up simple and easy, no need for a disk. Then not so good thing is I've had to reset both items MANY times in the last 2 years. I'm not pointing the finger at Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 or any of the updates, I just reset and move on. I just wish the laptop didn't need a disk to reset mainly because I dread having to look trough the storage unit for the disk. I've been back several times for other items needed to discover what I thought was being organized labeling boxes was obviously not so good. Spent too many hours pulling boxes all out to no avail and I won't mention how many curse words I called myself while doing all that.

Any suggestions so maybe I won't have to curse at myself again?

Troubleshooting log in issues in Windows 10 – Incorrect Password Errors

My logon screen shows "Other User" and no matter what I try I cannot log on. As I can't get past this screen I can't roll back to Windows 7 or access an administrator account.

The problem is that I don't have a Microsoft Account User ID to get a password from and I can't get past the "Hi there" screen.

The machine is effectively a brick.

 

Hi and welcome to Tenforums.

So you've been through some virus/malware cleaning and your laptop is not running properly now? Is there a web thread with everything you've done to the machine that we can look at? If so, please post the link.

In the meantime, see if you can enable the HIdden Administrator Account using Option #4 in this tutorial:
Administrator account - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Then, create a new user account, give it admin rights, and see if you can get in there. If so, you may want to copy all your data over to that new user account and delete the old one, which appears to be corrupted.
