Windows 10: Can't get the laptop screen to come on after sleep mode

If i close the laptop or let it sleep, when I try to wake it up again, my screen doesn't work. I can hear the laptop waking up again but nothing visual. I have tried turning the machine off with a hard shutdown holding the power button but that doesn't work - it stays switched on. I have to wait for the battery to run down sometimes taking days as it spends it's time in sleep mode. It has been doing this since the last update so i suspect it has something to do with this.


I have tried the responses to other questions that are similar but nothing has worked and as far as i can see they haven't mentioned the inability to do a hard shutdown.


What can i do to fix this? The laptop is only 18 months old, i have taken good care of it no drops to dislodge wires etc and i had someone have look it over for physical faults when this issue started happening so it isn't the machine.

Laptop screen displays jittering horizontal lines when coming out of sleep mode.

Problem description: My eighteen-month-old laptop screen displays
alternating horizontal lines and constantly jitters up and down when coming out of
sleep mode. The only resolution I’ve found is to reboot or let it go into sleep mode a
second time, after which, upon reopening the screen-lid, the problem clears and the screen displays normally. Any suggestions? Thank you.

 

Laptop PC Not Coming Out Of Sleep Mode

Hi; I'm having an issue with a HP laptop running Win 10 (Upgrade from Win 7 in 2017).

I had the laptop in sleep mode. When I opened the lid, I expected the laptop to power on.

The power light comes on, but I see nothing but a black screen. The fan is however running.

In addition, I'm not seeing the indicator light for the hard drive. I tried a forced power down, waited about a

minute, and then tried again. Nothing happened. Once again, the power light came on, but it is still showing

a black screen and no hard drive light.

When I originally put the laptop in sleep mode, it shut down normally, so I wasn't suspecting any issues.

I had the laptop in sleep mode for several hours, and not connected to AC power, only using the battery.

There was no new software downloaded to the laptop recently, the only recent change that I can think of

was an UI update to my anti-virus software (McAfee).

Could the issue be in some way related either to the UI update, or the hard drive?

Any suggestions to what may be causing these issues would be very helpful.

Screen goes black and doesn't come back. (Laptop Not in Sleep Mode)

Hello Everyone,

I have setup my laptop screen to turn off after 15 minutes of inactivity. The problem is that the display doesn't come back once it is turned off.

The Laptop is always in running mode as I have disabled the sleep option while plugged in.

I am using an HP Pavilion Laptop.

I have run the power troubleshooter but that just changes my sleep and screen off timings and adjust brightness.
