Windows 10: Can't go to 120 Hz on my monitor

I have a BenQ Mobiuz monitor with a max refresh rate of 165 Hz. I used to have it at a maximum refresh rate of 120 hz, but ever since my cousin played around with some settings, my monitor can't go higher than 60hz.I asked him what he did and tells me he doesn't knowI went to the Nvidia control panel but couldn't find anything about refresh rate.I use a gaming laptop with a GTX 1650 with max q and for the cable it's an hdmi cable not sure if it's 2.1 or whatever

How can I change my external monitor refresh rate to 120 hz or higher ?

I have an asus TUF 15 laptop With a 144 hz monitor

I bought a 165 hz monitor n plugged it in using an HDMI cable, the problem is that the external monitor only displays 60 hz limit in windows display settings even in the display adapters modes the highest refresh rate for 1920x1080 resolution is 60 hz

meanwhile in the intel graphics command center, it shows that the monitor can go up to 120 hz using this cable and all

I tried updating the graphics cards drivers and everything is still the same

So, how can I fix this problem please

by the way the main laptop monitor shows 144 hz refresh rate so the problem here is the external monitor and windows settings towards it

 

My Monitor Changes Hz When I Unplug My Second Monitor in Dual Display

My monitor changes from 60 Hz to 120 Hz after i unplug my second monitor from dual display, i want to stop my monitor from constantly changing Hz so is there anyway i can fix the Hz at 60?, Any help would be appreciated thanks!

 

Can't set my DisplayPort monitor to 144 Hz in Windows 10 October 2018 Update

I just updated to Windows 10 October 2018 Update (1809), and I can't set my main monitor to 144 Hz. It is connected via DisplayPort, and I have no problem setting the refresh rate in my other monitors.

Also, if I set the refresh rate to 120 Hz or 60 Hz on my main monitor, it will go down to 59 or 119 Hz. I have clean-installed the latest graphics drivers (NVIDIA 411.70) to no help.
