Windows 10: Can't hide empty dvd drives in windows 10

I am using Windows 10 pro.
I can't hide empty dvd drives in Explorer even though "Hide Empty Drives" and " Do Not Show Hidden Files" are both checked in File Explorer Options/View.
Any suggestions?.

Unfortunately, hide empty drives does not hide DVD drives.

If you have e.g. card readers, they will be hidden when you select hide empty drives but only if you select

"don't show hidden files, folders and drives" as well.

It used to be the case some months ago that my DVD drive was hidden. And I recall others needing to be advised they had to put a disk in to make it visible in explorer.

But as you say, I find it's always visible notwithstanding that setting.

 

Same for me dal, except for me its always showed. Which is ok for me.

You will need to remove the drive letter in Disk Management, (but then you won't be able to use the drive!),

or, use "Old/New Explorer" to enable 'classic drive groupings' which gives you the option to collapse the 'Removable Drive' group.

Here is the registry change when the setting 'Hide empty drives' changes:

changes to 1
So the GUI setting is at least reflected in a reg. change.
