Windows 10: Cant install vhd on drive other than C

I saw a video about dual booting where you create a vhdx file then use windows installation media to install windows on the new virtual disk, however when selecting a drive in the windows installation menu you have to use command prompt and select the virtual disk manually using a couple of commands. This works fine if I want to store the vhd on my C drive a 500gb ssd however if I want to store it on my X drive a 1TB ssd, then in command prompt when I try to type the path of the vhd I can't because unlike C drive starting with c:\ it starts with x:\Sources, and when I try to just type the pat

Why is VHD taking Space from C drive?

What is the use of a 1tb VHD if my game is taking space from vhd and c drive. The whole purpose of me intsalling a vhd is I don't want to buy a hard drive.

 

VHD disappeared after Windows 11 upgrade

I am perplexed. 3 days ago, I made a VHD on an HDD on my desktop PC. I was running Windows 10 pro v.22H2. Now, this HDD is a 2T drive that has 3 partitions on it (drives E: F: G). I took the F: drive, which had 224 GB free space and allocated 100 GB for the VHD. After initializing and formatting it, it was given a drive letter of J:\. I pasted a copy of Windows 11 ISO onto this drive. My intention was to install Windows 11 onto the VHD so that I could test it out. My next step was to install Windows 11 onto the VHD, so I double clicked on the ISO. Windows Install began. It had been a long time since I had installed a new OS, so I just let it do it's thing. About half way through, I realized that I may have installed the OS onto my C:\ drive instead of the VHD.
After the install was completed, I went to check where it was installed. As I suspected, it was installed on my C:\ drive. It was then that I found that the VHD had disappeared, including the Windows 11 ISO that I had copied into the VHD.
I cannot explain why this happened. I am okay with Windows 11 being my only OS, but still baffled by what had occurred.

i mean, can i delete the vhd (that contains files) from a drive that it is present in. can it be like Drive C or something like that, that doesn't hv like a physical vhd file in a drive.

i think i still haven't explained it properly.
