Windows 10: Can't install Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package x86

Hello,When I try to install Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package x86 on my Windows 10 64 bit computer I get this box:And when I click "Yes" appears this box: The box can be seen for about 1 second. After that simply disappears. In control panel there is no sign of Visual C++ 2005.I know that this version is not compatible with Windows 10 but I need to download this version to allow the system downloading and running a software.Can you help me please?Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Microsoft visual c++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

I am trying to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable (x86) from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5638 but it doesn't appear in my list of programs.

I have downloaded the "vcredist_x86" file twice and run it as administrator and not as administrator with reboots after each time. Can you tell me why it appears not to be installing successfully, please?

I have four 2005 redistributables installed but none is a beta version as the MS download page cautions me to uninstall first.

 

MS Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) Installation Problem

This is a fairly long post but I'm trying to provide as much background to help find a solution to the problem.

When I tried installing Cyberlink PowerDirector (PD) 15 Ultimate download, I got this message:

"The process cannot continue because the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) install was unsuccessful. Please contact Microsoft technical support for assistance. The installation will now abort.

"The installation of this program was unsuccessful. Please report this installation issue by going to
CyberLink Support Center and attaching Cyberlink PowerDirector 15.0.zip from your desktop."

I re-downloaded the PD 15 Ultimate file and tried re-installing it. Got the same message.

I sent Cyberlink technical support the zip file and the DxDiag file. I checked my PC and the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) is listed as installed on 2/4/15.

Cyberlick technical support sent this response:

"...In regards to to your concern, I would suggest you to download the

VC++ from Microsoft website and install again. If the issue persist that

VC++ can't be installed, suggest you to contact Microsoft for

assistance.

I re-installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) and tried re-installing PD 15 Ultimate. Got the same message as first time.

I checked Microsoft Community and there was a post about this issue. It says:

"I discovered that when Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) successfully installs on a Windows 10 machine it does not place the appropriate key in the registry??? Even though Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86)
is correctly installed and works with other applications, PowerDirector 14 as well as several other apps check to see if Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) is installed by looking for the registry key. When the Power Director installation
routine does not find the requested registry key it assumes that Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) is not installed or correctly installed and aborts the installation process."

Another poster recommended this fix:

"I had the same problem and I tried for hours to fix this issue. Finally I managed to do so. My solution involved two steps.

"1) I went to the control panel and removed the newer redistributables (in my case from Visual C++ 2010)

"2) I disabled UAC (Protect my PC from viruses)

"Then I was finally able to manually install the vcredist_x86 of VC 2008 and afterwards I could execute the setup without problems and now my Power Director is working !!

"Maybe step 1 is not necessary, but in my case this sequence did work."

I followed the sequence but PD 15 Ultimate would still not install and I got the same message. Unfortunately, deleting the newer redistributables prevented opening some other programs. I did a restore so my PC now has all the redistributables.

I am not a technical person and do not know where to look in the registry for the key or know if the key is the correct one. I assume PD 15 is looking for ({9A25302D-30C0-39D9-BD6F-21E6EC160475}) and not finding it, so it believes the redistributable package
is not installed or not installed correctly.

Can someone tell me:

(1) Where to look in the registry for the key and what the key should be.

(2) Assuming the redistributable package key is not in the registry, how can I fix the problem so that PD 15 can recognize Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1(x86) and complete the install?
