Windows 10: Can't install win10 from media creation tool

tl;dr - windows was having problem, shutdown itself on boot. Tried resetting windows but that went to shit. I included a long text wall of what I did if anybody can help figure out where I went wrong. Thanks in advance!

I'm at the end of my wits here, tried to troubleshoot it myself for 2 nights already. This is an old-ish laptop, bought it early 2016. It came with and used to run win10 no problem.

Specs:

i7-5500U

12gb RAM (8 + 4)

Hdd 1tb

Gtx 970 (stopped working 2018 due to what I assume is overheating)

A busted battery, but I made sure to keep it plugged in all the time during this process.

What happened:

Laptop hasn't been turned on for months. Didn't have this problem before.

It suddenly started to shutdown right after booting up, at the pin input screen, sometimes even before that. I'm pretty sure it is not a heating problem, as I started it cold, and it didn't even have enough time to feel hot by touch.

I googled and found a similar problem, and one answer said it is possible it was a problem with the RAM sticks. I swapped them last year (went from 8+8 to 8+4) so it sounds possible. So I swapped them out, changed slots, tried all possible configurations (one stick, 2 stick), and still nothing worked. Same problem still persist. Can't try it with a different set of RAMs as I don't have access to any.

Then I thought, maybe resetting windows will help, as that seems to help with every problem I've encountered before. So I went into winRE by turning it on and off repeatedly a couple times, and reset windows from there. All seems to be doing well, but when it went to restart, it's stuck at a blank black screen. Left it there for hours, went to sleep and woke back up, and it was still on the same black screen.

So I shut it down myself holding the power button, and rebooted. Was greeted with the same black screen.

So I thought maybe the windows installation is corrupted or something. Which prompted me to create a bootable usb with media creation tool on my PC.

After letting windows install from the USB, it restarts as usual near the end. And it won't boot again. However this time instead of a black screen at least I get a message.

It reads "encountered an unexpected problem. windows can't be installed. Click ok to restart the computer and redo installation". No error codes whatsoever unfortunately. I clicked ok to restart, same thing happens over and over. Same message same problem.

And now I'm stuck not knowing what else to do.

If I have to replace anything relatively expensive like RAM(s) or hdd I'd probably end up selling this laptop for cheap on fb as is.

Got it working in the end, not sure what happened but now have bootable usb with Win10 on it.
