Windows 10: Can't Installed Windows 10 64-bit operating system on a x64-based processor

I have a Dell tablet running Windows 10 32 bit Operating System. According to the Settings App under the "About" section it says:System type: x64-based processorWhen I try upgrade to a Windows 10 64-bit operating system I get an error code. Why won't it work?

Why did windows 10 install 32-bit operating system on a x64-based processor?

After upgrading my Windows 7 on an older machine, I then wiped it and performed a clean install.

Both installs went off without a hitch, but when I look at the system properties, it says:

"32-bit operating system, x64-based processor"?

Why did it not install a 64-bit version?

Will a 64-bit CPU run a 32-bit program on a 64-bit version of an OS? Yes it will. 64-bit systems are backward-compatible with their 32-bit counterparts. Will a 64-bit OS run a 32-bit application on a 64-bit processor? Yes it will. Again, this
is because of backward compatibility. Check at right click start(windows logo)> select system>should show 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor. There are not actually that many 64 bit programs and applications around yet. Most are 32-bit. So do
not worry.
