Windows 10: Can't launch or uninstall WhatsApp from desktop

Hi, Since a recent update I presume, I haven't been able to launch or uninstall WhatsApp from my desktop. However, it will launch from a notification.I can see it in Settings/Apps and I tried a Reset. I got a tick but still can't launch. Subsequent resets have failed with a 'please try later message'. I've tried the Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter but WhatsApp isn't even listed, nor in Control Panel. Something seems to be broken. Can anybody help?Thanks,Duncan Clee

WhatsApp not launching on desktop

I've tried to fix this problem twice but it doesn't go away. Every time I double click the whatsapp desktop shortcut, the cursor loads for a second, then nothing happens. Whatsapp does not launch. Right clicking and selecting run as administrator does not
work either. I also do not see 'Advanced Options' below Whatsapp when I go to settings>apps and select whatsapp there

The only way I can get it to launch is by going to task manager and finding whatsapp in the background processes, and then selecting it and clicking end task. After this, double-clicking the whatsapp shortcut launches whatsapp.

Please help me solve this

Hi Amna, I am Paulo. I'm an Independent Advisor and an individual like you inclined to help.

I've replicated the issue and it seems that you've downloaded and installed WhatsApp from their website. If that's the case, you're not gonna have the Advanced options since it's not from the Microsoft Store. I also noticed that the version from their website
is a bit slower to launch so I suggest you uninstall it then go to Microsoft Store and download and install the version there.
