Windows 10: Can't listen to audio recordings in Xbox Social for Windows 10

The screenshot above is an example of a voice message I received in my Xbox Social app, accessed through the Xbox Game Bar. However, I can't get it to play no matter what I do. I've clicked and double-clicked in all parts of it several times, and there is no option to play it when right-clicking. How can I listen to it?

I'll take this opportunity to also say I've been very disappointed with the Social features of Xbox; setting up a Sea of Thieves match with people you know is a much bigger chore on Xbox Game Bar than on platforms such as Steam. Microsoft has a very long way to go with this poorly-designed service. It is also extremely laggy, with notifications appearing many minutes after the fact occurred, be it achievements, invites, or anything else.

We suggest that you run troubleshooting for Audio Recording by following these steps:

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

Xbox Game Bar Capture Doesn't Record Mic Audio

In addition, you can also check if the Microphone for game bar is enabled under privacy settings.

1. Go to Settings (press Windows +
   I key together) > Privacy.
   
2. On the left hand pane scroll down and look for
   Microphone.
   
3. Toggle Allow apps to access Microphone
   to ON.
   
4. Under Choose which Microsoft Store app can access your Microphone toggle Xbox game bar to
   ON.
   
5. Restart the game bar.
