Windows 10: Can't load checkpoints from a Virtual Machine Configuration Version 9 on Windows 11 PC

Hi all!I'm running a VM on my Windows 11 machine that currently is a Configuration Version 11. I export the VM for others to load onto their computers, but some are on Windows 10 which doesn't allow the VM to be imported.I noticed that when I load a VM with the Configuration Version 9, I am able to use the VM, but when I attempt to create a checkpoint and restore from it, I receive the following message: The virtual machine name of VM is not compatible with physical computer name of my PC.Since Configuration Version 11 VM's aren't compatible with Windows 10 machines, should I just push eve

Installing a Virtual Machine in Windows 10

Step #1 is to decide which virtual machine software you wish to install.

The three most popular choices are:

• VirtualBox (from Oracle)
• VMWare Workstation Player (from VMWare); and
• Hyper-V (from Microsoft)

Once you've made your choice you can find detailed, illustrated instructions for installing each one on the internet.

As a personal suggestion: You might find it easier to use either VirtualBox or VMWare Workstation Player. Hyper-V is more complicated to setup.

Between VirtualBox and VMWare, I think you'll find VirtualBox more user-friendly, and it has the advantage of allowing you to create checkpoints - backups of your virtual machine - whereas to do that in VMWare you'll need to upgrade to their (expensive!)
paid version.

 

RemoteApp hanging on loading virtual machine

Hi guys

In short:

1. Reinstalled Windows 11.

2. Installed all drivers and Windows updates including Microsoft store.

3. Configured remote application access via SSL server.

4. Cannot connect - hanging on loading virtual machine. (mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll both V10.0.22621.457)

5. Downgraded mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll both to V10.0.22000.1042.

6. Remote application connects via published application and not hanging on loading virtual machine.

I have 2 newly installed PC's in the company both Windows 11, which cannot connect using mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll both V10.0.22621.457.

Can you please investigate? Supply a solution?
