    Can't lock stolen laptop remotely


    My laptop was resently stolen and under the devices tab on my Microsoft acount I have the option to lock it but it just says that the device cannot be locked at this time. What is the reason for this and is there something I can do to lock it anyway? Thanks.

    Good morning,

    My work bag and laptop with sensitive information on it was stolen last night.

    Can I log into my account and remotely lock/erase that laptop?

    Appreciate the help. I think the answer is no but maybe I get some good news today.

    Emergency! Stolen Windows 10 laptop...can I remotely lock/wipe?

    My brothers 10 year old laptop had Windows 10 installed. Was stolen last night. Can I remotely lock and/or wipe in case the thieves connect to the internet. The Laptop is not locked and is auto sign-in.

    Sounds like you are the recipient of stolen goods. All of our work laptops have this feature where it locks the BIOS and hard disk remotely if stolen, misplaced, or after a certain number of failed access attempts to the data on the disk without the TPM key.

    I would suggest returning it to wherever you bought or got it.
