  2. System Restore

    Hi Richard,

For us to isolate your concern, we would like to ask the following:

    • Are logged in using and Administrator account when trying to use system restore?
    • How are you trying to perform system restore? Is that through Control Panel or through the Boot Options menu?

We're looking forward to your response.

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
    a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
    b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.

Can't Log into account from System Restore. Kinda limited with other options

I cannot log in after doing a system restore

    Hi Sheena,

This usually happens if the system restore process is incomplete or due to corrupted files in Restore Point. I suggest you to try the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Perform Automatic Repair using the Installation Media and check if it helps. This will help you find and repair damaged/missing files in the Operating System.

Follow the steps to perform Automatic repair from Windows 10 Installation Media:

    • Insert media such as (DVD or flash drive) and press F12 key and click on
change default or other options which is at the bottom of the screen.

    • In the next screen click on troubleshoot option, this will display you different WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) options to resolve issues with the computer when it is in no boot state.

    • Now Click on Automatic Repair, this will open up a Wizard which will automatically diagnose and repair issues with the computer startup.

If you do not have an Installation Media, then refer to the following Microsoft Help article to create one.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

    Method 2:

Perform System Restore using the Installation Media and check if you are able to login to your computer.

Follow the steps to perform System Restore:

    • Insert media such as (DVD or flash drive) and press F12 key and click on
change default or other options which is at the bottom of the screen.

    • In the next screen click on troubleshoot option, this will display you different WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) options to resolve issues with the computer when it is in no boot state.

    • Now Click on System Restore, this will open up a Wizard and restore to a point when the computer was working fine.

Please reply with the status of the issue so that we can help you better.
