Windows 10: Can't login to Win-10 due to PIN Request screen not staying open.

I have a PIN set to login to Windows 10. It has not been an issue for years. Suddenly, when I start the computer, it appears to load everything up to the point where a wallpaper file is displayed with the date & time in the lower left hand corner. At this point, hitting the Enter key normally brings up a screen asking for my PIN, and I'm in business. Now, however, hitting the Enter key displays that screen for a microsecond then returns to the previous screen, as many times as you want. There are no active icons to click on, and the only thing I have been able to do from this point is a

Locked screen due to unknown PIN request.

The computer (Win10) in question is offline due to an adapter problem. Where the PIN request came from I don't know. I've never had one. I can't get online even with an ethernet cable because I can't get in. I tried to boot in SAFE MODE but after going through all the steps it loops back at the PIN window. Suggestions greatly appreciated!!

I suggest you to create a PIN for your device and try the on screen keyboard to login to the same.

You may follow the steps below to create PIN protection for your device.

  Go to Settings and select account.

  Click on sign in option and Go to PIN option.
  
• 
  Now click on Add and set PIN for login.
  

You can use the same PIN to login to your device using the on screen Keyboard from ease of access option and verify the result.

Forgot PIN, no other login options

I lost the PIN for a Windows laptop. When I hit "forgot my PIN" the screen said "just a moment" and had a spinning circle. It stayed that way for about 10 minutes, then there was a popup that said "you must download an app from the Store to complete this request". When I returned to the login screen, I tested a number of PINs that were incorrect, and now there is no "forgot my PIN" option. There was never an option to sign in with a password listed.
