Windows 10: cant move mouse while typing / holding a key.

i have tried to look for answers on this but most of the answers are old and are from 2018 . i dont have device settings where the mouse category is and i dont have to update the driver . i need help

I understand your concern and would suggest you to try to boot into Safe Mode with Networking. Here is the steps:

• Press and hold the shift key while clicking on
  Restart at the login Screen (Bottom right corner) > Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>
  Startup Settings> Restart >>Choose Enable Safe mode with networking.
  

If the mouse works, then update the Mouse driver. Here is the steps:

• 
  Press Windows+X key on your desktop and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate the mouse drivers, expand, right click and click
  on Update.
  

If it doesn’t help, then I would suggest you to
uninstall and re-install the Mouse drivers
in compatibility mode. Here is the steps:

• Go to your manufacturer’s website
  and download the Driver’s setup file for your computer.
• Press Windows Key + R on your desktop screen to go to run box.
• Type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
• Under Driver, expand, then right click and select
  Uninstall.
• If you are prompted to Confirm then Confirm.
• Go to the location where you had saved your downloaded setup files of the drivers and
  right click, then select Properties.
• Select Compatibility Tab.
• Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
• Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.

Whenever I hold down a key, my mouse pointer locks and I cannot move it.

Some of the possible reason why you're having performance issues with your device is due to corrupted software or driver. We suggest that you update the mouse driver of your computer. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X > Device Manager.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices > right-click
  HID-compliant mouse.
• Go to the Driver tab > click Uninstall >
  OK.
• Restart your device then check if the issue will still occur.

Mouse not working when holding down a key

General troubleshooting steps

A. Reboot your computer. Generally, rebooting solves many problems.

B. Try a different USB port

C. In case of wireless mouse, pair it again with the computer

D. In case of wireless mouse, check if batteries are not weak.

1. Take actions related to mouse (Check after each step A, B and C)

Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > View (on top bar) > Show hidden devices > Expand Mice and Other Pointing Devices > Right click on the mouse listed there >

A. Roll back - Click Properties > Roll Back - Under Drive tab, if Rollback Driver is enabled click it > Reboot

B. Uninstall - Uninstall > Reboot and the driver will be automatically installed

C. Update - Update Driver > Click Update Driver Software > Click Browse my computer for driver software > Click Let my pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Choose the driver > Click Next to update > Reboot

If this does not work, select Search automatically for the updated driver in place of Browse my computer for driver software > Reboot
