Windows 10: Can't open any app on my pc. side-by-side configuration incorrect.

Hi guys, please I need an urgent assistance with this problem...

I updated my windows 10 today (10.09.2018), and after it finish and I restart it, I couldn't open any program or steam games because it keep giving me this error:


"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.".


Can someone help me solve this problem please.

I'm attempting to install some software (namely sage accounts ) on a fresh install of windows 10 pro.
After installation (which appears to be successful) I receive the "error side by side configuration incorrect " when trying to run the app ..
I have googled the hell out of this and only find threads suggesting deleting all c++ versions and re installing.

I have tried several re installs of the software and following the above guide to no avail.. can anyone suggest a fix for this please ??

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
