  1. CAN'T OPEN ANY LINK WHICH FOLLOWS 'https' PROTOCOL FROM Messaging app....

So I am facing a really strange issue these days. I am unable to open any link from whtasapp which follows 'https' network protocol.Everytime i click on a link, it says that 'your pc doen't have an app installed to open such links'. 'Browse MICROSOFT STORE to find the apps which support these links'.Linke bro what??seriously I have MS EDGE, GOOGLE CHROME AND FIREFOX installed in my pc CHROME BEING MY DEFAULT BROWSER. I did set the https page opening to chrome itself but still the same issue occurs. If anyone knows the solution for the same. Pls solve my problem ASAP.

  2. Non-Store Default Apps for a file protocol in windows 10

I have the same issue as Ajo, and this does not resolve it. When I attempt to set a default app by protocol (I want to open mailto: links in gmail, because the built-in mail app is completely nonfunctional), the options that pop up are as follows:

    Mail

    Outlook 2016

Look for an app in the Store

This clearly doesn't work. I first set Chrome to handle the mailto protocol, but clearly the OS takes precedence there. So I then installed the gmail chrome app, only to discover, to my shock, that my own machine, which I am an admin on, won't allow me to
open the links I visit in the apps I desire? Is there a registry workaround for this, or is Microsoft locking their users out of using their machines how they want to again?

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. CAN'T OPEN ANY LINK WHICH FOLLOWS 'https' PROTOCOL FROM Messaging app.... :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

Links in Open Office documents doesn’t connect to web

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that links created in Open Office documents doesn’t connect to Web. However, it would be great if you can help us with the details requested below:

    • What happens when you click on the links in Open Office document?
    • Do you receive any error message/code? If yes, what is the error message/code?
    • Which browser are you using as default?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to refer the articles on
    Using hyperlinks
    and
    Hyperlinks and URLs
    and see if that helps.

You may also want to try resetting the file association for HTTP and HTTPS files to default and see if that helps. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + I, to open
      Settings.
    2. Click on Apps and select
      Default apps
      from the left pane.
    3. Click on Choose default apps by protocol.
    4. Look for HTTP and HTTPS in the list and makes sure that the protocols are associated with
      Internet Explorer.
    5. If you do not see Internet Explorer associated, click on the application name and select
      Internet Explorer from the list.

Let us know how it goes.
