Windows 10: cant open ANY word docs in windows 11 error message says: The selected file has an...

Hi,can someone help me with this one please.1 I can't open ANY word document from One Drive from either of my two accounts or from a back up USB flash drive where the file are also stored. 2 Error message says: " The selected file has an extension Doc that is not supported by windows and brings up media player window"3 The word docs don't contain media links.4 I can access PDFs etc. it is only word files that wont open. 5 I have rebooted and checked that I'm logged into my accounts I have a deadline to meet and cant access any of my word files !!thanks

I have a lot of ms word files on my pc. But one of them showed me an error - Getting unknown error messages while opening (.doc) or (.docx) files. I don't know how to open my word file or repair microsoft word. Any suggestions, guys, please.

Is it just one file, or all your word files?

With the exception of Outlook, I have yet to find a reason to stop using Office 2000, 2003, and 2007. They open all the latest files just fine, and they work just fine.

 

can not open word and the error message says i should try in safe mode

tried openeing word in the list of programmes just after MS Office upgraded and it does not open the programme

i tried using to crafty doc opener from microsoft store and the file i was would not open as the error message said file not supported even though it is designed for MS word.

tried repair of office package and was assured all is well after they scanned it

i just need to access my docs
