Windows 10: Can't open external HDD and keep not responding

I have a buffalo external hard drive. My external hard drive is old. So far my external hdd is working fine. I once nudged it 2x, which initially became vertical to horizontal and there was a loud sound as a result of falling still on the table. But my external hdd is still safe and working fine. Suddenly one day my external hdd could not be opened. My external hdd appears in device manager, appears in windows explorer without storage bar, but doesn't appear in disk management. Every time I click on anything related to this external hdd, my laptop hangs. I've tried chkdsk nothing appears

Usually, this problem occur due to software incompatibility or corrupted USB drivers. For us to better assist you, we would like to clarify the following:

• Have you made any recent changes on your computer prior to the issue?
• Which driver did you uninstall? Have you reinstall the driver? If yes, how did you reinstall the driver?
• Have you check if the external HDD is visible in Device Manager?

If the issue still persists after uninstalling some games, we suggest that you run the troubleshooter for hardware and devices. If you're using the latest Windows 10 version, follow these steps on how to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

diagnose external HDD

Thanks to all for our suggestions. I'm still working on this, but need to bow out for a day or two. Here's what I've tried so far:

• downloaded crystaldiskinfo and the HDD doesn't show there either.
• Tried jumanji suggestion #8and get "about:blank#blocked". could be my firewall but haven't gotten that message for a while
• My HDD is not in a case
• I can't use a UDB c cable on this drive. It has one of those long mini connectors with a long and short side
• Device Driver shows no yellow triangles (see image)
• I have a Windows 10 laptop but haven't tried the drive there (yet)
  Yes, my desktop is the Acer mentioned in my profile

 

External HDDs

Hi i had a seagate freeagent (external) which stopped working so i bought another enclosure and the hdd kept disconnecting/reconnecting in windows 8.1, so i boht another enclosure and also the same thing. Iv tried a different hdd and all hdds work perfectly when plugged directly into sata ports on the board, are there any other steps i can try or do you think iv just been unlucky with enclosures?
