Can't open files over a network HDD

    Hi all!

First of all I want to tell you that I have decidet to ask for your help after days of trying to solve this problem reading on forums and watching videos trying to find a solution for it. Maybe someone here will figure what's happening cause I have no solution for it.

I have a router TP-Link and a 2TB HDD connected via USB 3.0, the speed is ok, not great but satisfying.

Whenever I want to acces a file from the network, let's say it's a doc, Microsoft Office opens that file, but after closing it and try to open the second one it fails.

What happens is the file tries to open for a minute, the Office interface startup screen is appearing and the download (from network) at the bottom starts, but remains 0% all the way. Finally after a minute or so, i get an error saying "Someone else is working in 'path of the file here' right now. Please try again later.

First I thought it was Office's fault and I tried to open the file with Winword instead, but i get the same message.

This thing happens also on pictures, but no txt or pdf files.

If by any chance the file opens without an error, this happens after a few minutes, never less.

Seems like a random problem that I cant get it to work and I am desperate because I cannot acces my files over network and I am forced to download them and this is not the purpouse of the network storage I made.

Seems the network is going too slow for the file to open, but there is no trafic on it and has no reason to act this way.

If I try to download some files I get 9 MB/s on wired connection. The router is TP-Link AC1900 C9.

Please, if you have any idea, no matter how strange, leave a comment. Thanks!

    :)

    Hi Johan,

    It is possible that your
    HDD was unreadable
causing the error message to appear. We recommend that you perform these troubleshooting steps and check if there are any changes:

    • Shutdown
      your
      PC.

    • Unhooked
      the
      HDD
      and
      turn on
      your
      PC.

    • Reconnect
      your
      HDD
      and
      restart
      your
      PC.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you contact your
    laptop/computer's manufacturer
    for further assistance.

Update us on how it goes.
