    Can't open Notepad or .txt files in Windows Sandbox


    I am running Windows 11 business 23H2 and have Windows Sandbox installed.I have recently found I can't open notepad. I'm sure I have used notepad on Windows Sandbox previously but it may have been a few months ago.My manager has the same setup as I do but he is able to use notepad on his SandboxI have tried copying txt files to the sandbox from the host computer, I have tried opening it from start, I have tried opening it by pressing windows and RI have also tried opening it from the C:/windows folder where it shows, I can click on it but nothing happens I can open other things like regeditN

    Notepad - Cant drag and drop to open txt

    Normally, if I have notepad open, I would be able to click and drag an appropriate file into notepad, like a txt file, and it would open in notepad. Now, when I click and drag files into notepad, nothing happens.

    Any Suggestions

    No, that > bla.txt is the target file to write to. You could use a wildcard in the argument, ie c:\windows\*.txt which would list all dlls in c:\windows. But adding that to a simple right-click would be tricky.

    Basically you would execute fancyfile.bat c:\windows\*.txt, fancyfile.bat would then write all .txt files to bla.txt.

    If you like you can download the .reg file for the listed txt option in OPTION TWO of the tutorial below to restore the default association for .txt files to be opened with Notepad.
