  1. Can't open Settings app in Win11 24H2 without disabling UAC

I tried upgrading one of our test computers here from Win11 23H2 to 24H2 yesterday. Install ran normally, but when I tried to open the settings app afterwards, it just sits there with the gear icon in the middle of the window and eventually disappears. Found the error in the screen shot in the event log. Tried the same upgrade on another test computer with the same result. Ran all the usual DISM and SFC checks which found no problems or if they did, the fixes had no effect on the problem. Also ran a few Powershell commands to reset/reinstall the windows.immersivecontrolpanel package, still no

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Built in apps + UAC

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft community. We understand your requirement in this regard.

    Please share these details.

    • On which Microsoft account you are trying to disable these apps?

    • When you say "we have an application in our company, which requires UAC to be disabled for it to work”. Which application you are referring to?

    • On how many computers you are facing this issue?

    • Are the systems connected to a domain network?

    • Is the issue specific to this application?

You can see this error message “is app can't open with built in administrator account”, when you try to open built-in apps in built-in administrator. So you need a Microsoft account in order to make use of those built-in apps.

Moreover, I see you already disabled the UAC as per the application requirement that you use as a part of your company. We don’t recommend disabling UAC on to help make your computer secure. However currently we don’t have any option to run those
    app with built-in administrator.

I suggest that you provide your suggestions and feedbacks in the dedicated Feedback App. Follow these steps to provide suggestions in Windows Feedback App.

At any time, select Start, and then type Windows Feedback to send us your opinions and suggestions. Windows Feedback is only available if you have Diagnostic and usage data set to Full (Full is the recommended setting).

To change the Diagnostic and usage data setting, go to Start , then select Settings > Privacy > Feedback & diagnostics, and then, under Diagnostic and usage data, select an option.

    Thank you.

Cant open any Windows App with UAC disabled

You cannot open any universal apps with UAC disabled, because Universal apps run in sandboxes that are based on UAC functionality. It was the same way in Windows 8.

Some apps have moved from desktop apps to Universal apps in Windows 10, such as the calculator. Edge is also a universal app. Settings is also a universal so, with UAC disabled, you can't access settings either.

Basically, disabling UAC cripples your computer now, and you can't run without it effectively.

    Hi,

Whit the UAC disabled (Registry> EnableLUA=0) I get the error message "The app can´t open", "...with the Built-in Administrator account. Try with another account".
I get this message when I try to open any Windows App (Calender, Fotos, Camera, Edge, One Note), everything.

How to make App´s work with UAC disabled?
