  1. Can't project wirelessly using Miracast to another laptop

I just got another laptop from HP and was trying to figure out how to project wirelessly from my old ASUS Q502LA to the new laptop. I have been able to project from the HP to the old ASUS but I cannot seem to be able to do the other way around. I have installed the "Wireless Display" feature on both computers, and connecting from the HP to the ASUS it seems to work just fine, but not the other way around. I can connect to the HP as "Audio", but it doesn't recognize the HP when trying to connect as a wireless display. I have looked at Device Manager so far and nothing seems amiss, and run DxDiags as well, and things seem to be fine with Miracast as well. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

  2. Your PC or mobile device doesn't support Miracast, so it can't project wirelessly

That thread doesn't help at all as it seems to be unrelated to the issue I'm facing. I don't even see a list of devices, only the message "Your PC or mobile device doesn't support Miracast, so it can't project wirelessly".

  3. Trouble projecting wirelessly from PC

    Howdy,

When I go to project my PC, I get the dialog that "Your PC or mobile device doesn't support miracast, so it cannot project wirelessly." I can't find any reason why my computer would not meet the requirement for miracast. Granted, It doesn't have any sort
of WiFi adapter onboard, but it looks like windows implemented Miracast LAN functionality with the

    MS-MICE
    protocol in Windows update 1703.

These are all troubleshooting steps I have tried so far:

    • Used the DirectX diagnostic tool (dxdiag.exe) to check if Miracast is available. It show's that Miracast is "Available, with HDCP."
    • Checked the display driver model within dxdiag. It shows WDDM 2.5. The minimum for Miracast is WDDM 1.3.
    • Updated display adapters to NdisVersion 6.4.
    • Updated Intel Graphics drivers to the newest version. (20.19.15.5063 aka 15.40)
    • Set the main graphics driver to Intel Graphics in bios.

    Here are my specs:

    • CPU: Intel i5-4690k
    • MOBO: MSI Z97 PC-Mate
    • GPU: GTX 1080
    • RAM: 16 GB DDR3
    • OS: Windows 10 Pro build 18632.

The only reason I can think of as to why I would have this problem is because I don't have onboard WiFi, but I don't know why that matter if they implemented LAN functionality.

    Can anyone help?
