Windows 10: Can't re-install Windows 10 "Windows setup could not reinitialize the deployment engine"

I originally set up an HP computer with Windows 10 Home after replacing the hard drive following a crash. My configuration was Windows 10 Home plus applications on a C: partition, and all user files other than desktop on D: Following a full install and configuration I took a complete C: image using Macrium Reflect a product I have been using successfully for many years.Today I had to restore this image. On the reboot, instead of getting into my desktop, I was presented with the Windows startup screen consisting of four perspective squares with the spinning dots below. After thirty minutes

Windows 8.1 to 10 Clean Install error "Windows is unable to reinitialize the deployment engine"

I have been trying to do a clean install of Windows 10 and have been following guides closely. I get the error "Windows is unable to reinitialize the deployment engine" after selecting a place to install Windows. I believe it's an error with my partitions
but I was unsure which ones to delete. I have only one drive and one of the partitions is my OS (main partition). Should I delete all others? Thanks for the help.

OK I finally succumbed to the harassment of Windows 10 upgrade on my Compaq Presario CQ62 laptop. My objective was to do a clean install. I never had that choice when I first installed W10 on this machine. I thought I should get that option. But, Microsoft
being Microsoft never makes anything easy. So, I checked the web to see what it takes to do a clean install.

Download the media creation tool. It doesn't say whether or not there are different tools for W8.1 or W10, so I downloaded mediacreationtool.exe. I ran it, and eventually, it created an iso file. I used the DVD tool to create a bootable DVD disk and the
machine booted up to the DVD.

So far, so good.

Next, it asked if I wanted to do an install. Next.

Things start to go awry.

Then it asked for a product key. My understanding was that if I had a legitimate copy of Windows this would not happen.

But, I entered the key. Next.

Do you want to do an upgrade and keep all the files you have?

Do you want to do a clean install? I want to do a clean install. Next.

Accept License Terms. Yes. Next.

Where do you want to install Windows. On the OS partition. Next.

The endless cycle begins. Stuck on a Microsoft screwup.

I get this message: Windows setup could not reinitialize the deployment engine. To install Windows restart the installation.OK, fine. I restarted the installation several times and got here again and again.

Now what can I do, if anything?

Offensichtlich versagt das Installationsprogram von Microsoft in diesem nicht eingeplanten Fall.

Verschiedene Versuche mit Installationen ausprobiert, auch mit Win 7 von CD. Es ist nicht möglich, Windows auf bereits benutzte Daten-Partitionen aber ohne ein funktionierendes System zu installieren. In diesem Fall wird die Installation mit der Meldung

"Windows setup could not reinitialize the deployment engine"





bereits am Anfang (copying Windows files) abgebrochen. Das gilt sowohl für Win7 als auch 10. Zufällig war noch eine Partition unallocated (unformatiert) mit 25,8 GB direkt neben meiner Zielpartition. Dorthin funktionierte die Installation von Win 7 einwandfrei.
Der nächste Schritt war es, mit dieser Partition die Datenpartition Samsung SSD3 (früher Win 10, aber zerstört) zu verschmelzen (Minitool). Das Resultat war eine Win7 Partition, auf der aber das System als "nicht genuine" nur fragmentarisch lief (praktisch
nur der Task Manager ohne Explorer). Die zweite Partition wurde als "Merged_Partition_Content" vollständig im Explorer angezeigt. Wahrscheinlich ist durch das Merge ein wesentlicher Teil an Informationen des Betriebssystems Win 7 verloren gegangen. Das war
aber nur die Grundlage für die Installation von Win 10 auf der verschmolzenen Partition! Diesmal lief die Installation von der Festplatte mit dem montierten ISO auf C:\Setup fehlerlos und rasch von Anfang bis Ende mit 3 Restarts durch. Der erste Restart war
genau so wie vorher schon bei 20 % "Getting files Ready" erfolgt, aber diesmal setzte sich die Installation automatisch fort, wo sie sich unterbrochen hatte. Das Resultat war ein einwandfreies Win 10 System, welches das fehlerhafte Win 7 sowie das vorher zerstörte
Win 10 ersetzte.

Das Ganze ist wieder ein Beweis für die These: die gesamte Informatik ist eine hoch irrationale Wissenschaft! Nur der Zufall und "verrückt" erscheinende Wege führen zum Ziel.

Maybe somebody has the same problem and this can help as a solution. The installation program cannot work if there is not an unallocated partition or a formatted partition with a fully functioning operating system. In my case, the Windows 10 partition had
been destroyed by mistake and could not be recovered completely and correctly.
