Windows 10: Can't read from the source file or disk

hello,


I am trying to copy folders from my D: Drive to my External Hard Drive MyCloud Home by Western Digital.

Everytime I try to copy some folders, it pauses at some point and shows me error: "Can't read from the source file or disk"

I have contacted Western Digital support but they affirm the problems comes from Windows.

I am running on Windows10.

When I try to copy one folder containing others folders and files, I get the error: "Can't read from the source file or disk" and it indicates me a specific file for example: 'EN5000_Full_WebPack_44.4.2678.exe' that cannot be read from the source file or disk. But when I try to copy this same file alone, it works perfectly. So I am really confused.

Solutions I tried but did not work:
- Restarting the computer
- Plugging the external hard drive into a different USB port

- Running chkdsk D: /r /f /x on the computer's internal hard drive no errors found

- Running chkdsk Z: /r /f /x on the external hard drive no errors found


Anyone know how I could debug the issue?

Cannot read files on floppy disk

Hi, I have files that I know are good on a floppydisk. On trying to access them a message says the disk need formatting. I have tried to use PhotoRec from the UBCD but it will apparantly only read HDD or CD/DVD.

Can anyone suggest a freeware program that might work. Thank you for your help.

You can do two things:

• Launch the Event Viewer (eventvwr.exe), then open the Windows Logs / System branch. Check for disk error messages.
• Launch the Disk Manager (diskmgmt.msc). Right-click the problem partition, left-click Properties, then
  Tools, then Check.
