Windows 10: Can't register my Android phone to Microsoft account – device serial not recognized + ghost...

Hi everyone,I'm trying to link my Pixel 6 to my Microsoft account in order to use cross-device features like clipboard sync via SwiftKey and Phone Link.However, when I try to register the device using the serial number from my Android settings, the Microsoft device portal returns an error saying it cannot find or register the device. I've double-checked the serial number for accuracy.While reviewing my devices at account.microsoft.com/devices, I noticed something odd: there are multiple entries listed as "None" or "HVM domU", which I do not recognize. How do I add my android phone as a device to my Microsoft account?

Linking a phone isn't the problem. Microsoft account says there are no registered android devices. Attempting to register the phone it wants a serial number. I tried IMEI number and it didn't like that. I think this is only for XBOX. Can an android phone be registered? Again, phone link works.

 

Laptop doesn't recognize connected android device.

We appreciate your effort on this. We understand that when you connect your Android device to the computer it is not recognized, we will look into this for you.



As per the description, the Android device only charges when you connect it to the computer. Hence, we would like to know if you see any Unknown device in Device Manager. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + X, and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. In Device Manager window, check if there is a section of
   Unknown device.
   
3. If you see Unknown device, right click on it and select
   Update Device.
   
4. If prompted, restart the computer.
   

I would also suggest you to follow the steps from the article Error:
“USB Device not recognized” when you try to access a USB external hard drive except Method 2 and see if that makes any difference.

Serial number of self-built PC

I'm confused?? Is the computer listed in the Microsoft Account/Devices page or not? If not, you have to register it and it may take a couple of days to register in the Microsoft Store.
